He was part of the All Blacks and Maori All Blacks in 2016 off the back of a highly impressive 2016 Super Rugby season where he won fans' player of the year.
McKenzie was the 2014 New Zealand age group player of the year after his impressive performance at the 2014 IRB Junior World Cup. He was part of the Chiefs Development team in 2014, the New Zealand Secondary Schools in 2013 and the New Zealand Schools Barbarians in 2012. He is the younger brother of Marty McKenzie.
