TOURNAMENT FORMAT

What will the NZ Sevens tournament schedule look like?

The HSBC NZ Sevens tournament will feature 45 games played over two days – Feb 3 + 4 2018. Rugby Sevens matches feature two 7-minute halves of play with a 2-minute halftime.

The match schedule will be set closer to the tournament dates, however it is estimated matches will start at approximately 10am each day. To keep up to date on schedule details, visit Schedule & Results.

Will pass out privileges be allowed each day?

Fans will be free to come and go as they please.

Fans will be required to have their tickets on them for entry and re-entry – no exceptions.

How is the NZ Sevens Tournament structured?

Teams will be divided into four pools consisting of four teams the week prior to the event, following the previous Series stop in Sydney. The tournament features 16 nations, including 15 core teams qualified for inclusion on all stops of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Teams will play a round-robin schedule of three games each within their pool on the Saturday. Teams will compete for Gold, Silver & Bronze medals on day two. Teams accumulate points at each stop of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series based on how they place, ultimately crowning a Series Champion at the end of each season.

What does GA mean? Will we be seated together?

General Admission (GA), entitles you to access specific areas of the venue where seating is provided (seating is on the grass embankment in Greenzone) but not assigned. Spectators with GA tickets will be allowed to sit wherever there is an open spot within the designated GA sections.

My GA ticket has a different number next to it than my friend’s ticket. Can we still sit together?

Yes! All General Admission tickets can access any available seat in the stand for the Zone you have purchased in regardless of the number on your ticket.

Can I purchase tickets at the gate?

Tickets will be sold on tournament days at all the gate 1 box office at FMG Stadium Waikato, subject to availability. Spectators are encouraged to buy tickets ahead of time, as certain sections may sell out in advance of the event.

What time will ticket services open on tournament day?

Ticket services will be open 1 hour prior to the first match kick-off. It is highly recommended that individuals purchase tickets prior to the event as tickets available on the day of the tournament will be scarce.

Is there special group pricing?

Yes – groups of 20 or more receive each 20th ticket free (ie. Buy 19 tickets, get your 20th free).

Ticketek online sales are limited to 10 tickets per transaction. How do I purchase more tickets?

What are the different ticket types?

Children age two and under will be admitted free with an adult as long as the child is sitting on an adult’s lap. If a parent requests a physical seat for the child, he/she must purchase a ticket.

“Child” is age 14 and under as determined by their age on Saturday 2 February 2018.

“Youth” is age 15-17 years (inclusive) as determined by their age on Saturday 2 February 2018. Photo ID will be required as proof of age.

How can I book wheelchair seating?

If you have special seating requirements such as wheelchair access, hearing difficulties or you require companion seating please contact us on 0800 686 677. Each wheelchair ticket purchased is entitled to bring one companion for free.

Is there alcohol-free seating available?

The HSBC NZ Sevens has a designated alcohol-free seating sections within the White Zone (Goal Line General Admission seating area). For exact seating locations, please see below:

What are the accessibility options at FMG Stadium Waikato?

On event days mobility parking is available on Seddon Road adjacent to Waikato Stadium refer to FMG Stadium Waikato Access Map here: http://www.fmgstadiumwaikato.co.nz/51/about/attending-a-game/venue-maps. Mobility access is also indicated on this map.
Please remember to display your mobility card on the dashboard of your vehicle.  For safety reasons vehicle access to and from the accessible parking available on Seddon Road may be restricted for up to 30 minutes both before and after the end of each event.
Special areas have been set aside in FMG Stadium Waikato for wheelchairs and caregivers. Request details from the ticketing company when booking your ticket.

Can I ride my bike to the stadium?

Cycling to the venue is encouraged.  There are bicycle racks available at the rear of the Brian Perry Stand, access can be gained on event days with a valid event ticket.  Patrons need to supply their own lock.

What can and can’t I bring into the stadium?

All bags are subject to search before entry to FMG Stadium Waikato.

There are some things that you are welcome to bring into the venue when you attend an event provided that their presence or use doesn’t interfere with the event or disturb other visitors’ enjoyment of the event. You can bring:

  • Personal effects such as a coat, small bag or small umbrella, as long as they can be easily stored under your seat or carried by you when not in use
    • A mobile phone, personal camera or electronic device
    • A disability assist dog
  • An empty drinking container no larger than 1 litre which can be filled at one of the water taps in the venue
  • Home-made food for personal consumption, such as sandwiches, fruit, biscuits or cake that is not in commercial packaging
  • Family Zone (Green Zone) – you are permitted to bring in compact folding camping chairs

Please leave the following restricted items behind when attending events as you may be required to surrender them as a condition of entry to the event or the venue. We are unable to provide storage and surrendered items may not be returned. You can’t bring:

  • Alcohol
  • Commercially produced food and drinks
  • Glass containers, cans or thermos flasks
    • Sound devices that are considered by venue management to be a nuisance, including air horns, drums and whistles
  • Bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, skates or scooters
  • Illegal substances or items
  • Signage, products, clothing or equipment considered by venue management to be offensive
  • Unauthorised promotional material including signage, products and clothing
  • Laser lights or pointers
  • Gang patches/colours
  • Weapons of any kind or items that may be used as a weapon
  • Items that may be thrown, e.g. bolts, marbles
  • Professional camera, video or audio recording equipment
  • Furniture, including but not limited to seats, sofas, sun umbrellas
  • Pets
  • Items that may be used for defacing or damaging property, e.g. markers
  • Items that could cause harm or public nuisance as determined by venue management
  • For safety reasons, pushchairs and strollers are not permitted in the stadium
Can I bring my own beverage container into the stadium?

Empty water bottles no larger than 1 litre capacity are permitted into the stadium and are subject to search at the gate. Bottles can be filled at drinking fountains located around the venue. Bottled water can also be purchased in venue.

Can I use my camera/video camera in the stadium?

Personal photography is permitted in stadium, provided the images are for personal use only. Photographic support tools that may interfere with others’ enjoyment of the match (selfie sticks, tripods, professional lenses larger than 200 mm, etc.) are not permitted in the stadium.

Can I smoke in the stadium?

In accordance with the Smokefree Environments Act 2003, smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the complex.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

What options are there at the stadium?

A number of food and beverage outlets are available at FMG Stadium Waikato on game days, they sell a range of hot and cold foods and snacks, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverage and coffees. Payment options vary depending on the outlet and mobile ATM machines are available onsite.

Can I bring my own food and drink into the stadium?

Yes you can bring in a small amount of home-made food for personal consumption.
