On April 13th The Chiefs Manawa whānau came together in a celebration of pride, passion, and performance at the Cater Plus Chiefs Manawa Awards 2025. The awards ceremony, livestreamed to members and fans via chiefspass.com, acknowledged the outstanding achievements, dedication, and spirit shown by players and team members throughout the 2025 Sky Super Rugby Aupiki season.
With MCs Moana Forbes and Jordan Vandermade guiding the evening, the ceremony kicked off with opening remarks from Chiefs Rugby Club CEO Simon Graafhuis. “The on-field result may not have been where we wanted, but the way you have carried yourselves makes me proud of each and every one of you”
The awards presented on the night were as follows:
Mana Kotiate Award – Presented by MyTreat
🏆 Winner: Kennedy Tukuafu
Nominated by players, coaches, and staff, this award recognises the embodiment of Chiefs Mana – consistently giving their best for the club, the team, and the wider community. Although Kennedy could not be present, the award was proudly accepted by Tenika Willison on her behalf.
Fans’ Player of the Year – Presented by Carpet Mill
🏆 Winner: Kate Henwood
As voted by the fans, this award celebrates the player who captured the hearts of the Chiefs Manawa faithful throughout the season. Kate’s relentless energy and connection with the crowd made her a standout favourite.
Personality of the Year – Presented by Cater Plus
🏆 Winner: Grace Haupapa-Barrett
Peer-nominated, this award honours the individual who lights up every room – on and off the field. Known for her infectious positivity, Grace’s spirit and warmth are deeply felt across the squad. Kiriana Nolan accepted the award on Grace’s behalf.
Players’ Player of the Year

Voted by her teammates, Kennedy was once again recognised for the unwavering support, impact, and inspiration she brings to the team environment. Her presence clearly resonates across all levels of the squad.
Rookie of the Year – Presented by The University of Waikato
🏆 Winner: Veisinia Mahutariki-Fakalelu
This award celebrates a breakout season from a first-time Chiefs Manawa player. Veisinia impressed with her work ethic, resilience, and explosive talent on the field, making her an instant fan favourite and a key contributor to the team’s success.
Player of the Year

Capping off an unforgettable debut season, Veisinia was also named the 2025 Chiefs Manawa Player of the Year. Voted by the coaching group, she was recognised for her consistency, leadership and impact across all facets of the game.
