Kyren Taumoefolau is a powerful and dynamic back who can play fullback or wing, bringing speed to the Gallagher Chiefs. He has represented both club and country at a high level, including the Tongan national team.

Taumoefolau began his rugby journey with Waitohi in Picton before joining Moana Pasifika, making his debut off the bench in a win over the Fijian Drua. He scored a try in his first start against the Western Force and continued his scoring form the following week against the ACT Brumbies. In 2025, he finished the season with 9 tries, helping Moana Pasifika achieve their best campaign since their 2022 inception.

Internationally, he made his debut off the bench against Australia A and scored in the 2023 Pacific Nations Cup against Fiji. He was also part of Tonga’s squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, scoring against Romania.

In August 2025, Taumoefolau signed a two year deal with the Chiefs, set to start in the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season, marking a major step in his career.
