Chiefs whānau can look forward to seven home games across Chiefs Country in 2027, with the Gallagher Chiefs DHL Super Rugby Pacific draw now confirmed.
The home schedule features six games at FMG Stadium Waikato and what is set to be an epic Easter Sunday clash against the Hurricanes at Stadium Taranaki in New Plymouth. The team will also return to Ōtautahi Christchurch to take part in Super Round at One New Zealand Stadium.

The team will begin its campaign with two matches across the Tasman, facing the Western Force in Perth on Saturday 13th February before travelling to Brisbane to take on the Queensland Reds in Round 2.
The Gallagher Chiefs will return to Hamilton for their first home game of the season, hosting the NSW Waratahs at FMG Stadium Waikato on Saturday 27th February. The opening home match will be followed two weeks later by the Blues heading to Hamilton in the traditional Battle of the Bombay’s on Saturday the 13th March.
Return to Taranaki
Announced as a feature match of the regular season, Round 7 will see the Gallagher Chiefs return to Taranaki to take on the Hurricanes at Stadium Taranaki on Easter Sunday, 28 March.
It will mark the Chiefs first regular-season match in the region since 2023, following the team’s pre-season appearance in New Plymouth in 2025. With a family-friendly 4pm kick-off on an extra-long weekend, the fixture gives Chiefs fans across Taranaki another opportunity to experience DHL Super Rugby Pacific action in their own backyard.
“We are so excited to be heading back to Taranaki, especially to take such a big NZ derby”, said Chiefs CEO Simon Graafhuis who is looking forward to heading to the region. “The rivalry amongst fans in the Taranaki is huge, but we know our Gallagher Chiefs supporters will get behind the boys and make this one of the games of the year. There is obviously a great contingent of local Taranaki players in the Gallagher Chiefs squad. Our pre-season game last year had a great crowd, and we’ve been keen on making this happen for a while. Having a draw that lets us explore regional options and get the team out to Chiefs Country is fantastic, credit has to be given to the commitment and effort from Taranaki RFU and New Plymouth District Council for making this game happen.

Graafhuis also highlighted that the draw offered plenty for supporters across Chiefs Country to look forward to. “Overall the draw has posed some interesting performance, travel and commercial challenges but we’re pretty happy with where it’s ended up on balance for the whole season. It has a mix of Friday, Saturday games – even Sunday over Easter, and we are looking forward to a few afternoon games – which we know the fans have been asking for years and will hopefully really suit families.”
Taranaki Rugby Chief Executive Officer Jimmy Fastier was thrilled to announce the fixture.
“The Gallagher Chiefs v Hurricanes – this is the unmissable fixture that Taranaki fans have been waiting for. Stadium Taranaki, the best regional sports venue in the country hosting the Super Rugby Pacific grand final rematch, with a strong All Blacks and Yarrows Taranaki Bulls flavour running through both squads. An afternoon kick-off on Easter weekend makes it perfect for families to be part of the action. We can’t wait to welcome the Chiefs, Hurricanes and rugby fans to Taranaki.”
Following Easter weekend, the comp will have all 10 teams heading to Ōtautahi for Super Round. The Gallagher Chiefs will take on the Western Force as the opener to Saturday’s double-header, offering fans a scintillating opportunity to soak up the atmosphere that left 70,000 people wanting more in 2026.
In the back half of the season, Chiefs fans can look forward to a change of pace with afternoon rugby hitting FMG Stadium Waikato. The boys will host the Crusaders at 4.35pm on Saturday 1 May, before welcoming the Highlanders for a second afternoon match on Saturday 22 May.
Afternoon Footy
The final stretch of the home schedule will see the Gallagher Chiefs host the Fijian Drua, before heading into their only bye week of the 2027 season. The break allows for a blockbuster ANZAC Test between the All Blacks and Wallabies, before the Chiefs return to action against old Australian foes, the Queensland Reds, on Friday, 14 May.
Closing out the regular season will see the lads head back for two weeks in Australia before heading home for a refreshed finals format. In 2027, the top two teams take a week off while the 3rd-6th seeded teams contend for the remaining semi-final spots.
