Protect Our Pā: Gallagher Chiefs Call on Fans Ahead of Brumbies Semi Final

The Gallagher Chiefs have confirmed their side as they prepare to host the Brumbies in this weekend’s DHL Super Rugby Pacific Semi Final at FMG Stadium Waikato.

After a narrow loss to the Blues in last week’s Quarter Final, the Chiefs advance as the highest-ranked losing team. They are ready to shake the “lucky loser” label and deliver a statement performance in front of a roaring home crowd.

Wallace Sititi starts at the back of the scrum, combining with Luke Jacobson and Samipeni Finau to form a dynamic loose trio. Tupou Vaa’i and Naitoa Ah Kuoi provide power in the second row, while a settled front row features Ollie Norris, Samisoni Taukei’aho, and George Dyer.

Cortez Ratima retains the Number 9 jersey and will partner with Damian McKenzie at first five-eighth. Quinn Tupaea and Daniel Rona combine in the midfield, with Leroy Carter and Emoni Narawa named on the wings. Shaun Stevenson returns to fullback to offer stability and support at the back.

Brodie McAlister, Jared Proffit, and Reuben O’Neill provide impact off the bench up front, while Jimmy Tupou and Kaylum Boshier add options in loose forwards. Xavier Roe is named as the reserve halfback, with Josh Jacomb covering first five and Gideon Wrampling offering flexibility across the backline.

Gallagher Chiefs Head Coach Clayton McMillan says the team go into the Semi Final ready to meet the Brumbies’ challenge.

“They’ve proven themselves as the top Australian side. They’re hardened, well-drilled and know how to close out a tight contest. Their performance against the Hurricanes shows they can be clinical and composed under pressure.”

“We know they bring a different style of rugby. It’s structured, with a strong set piece and smart kicking game, and we’re prepared for that.”

“This week is about fronting up physically, staying disciplined, and backing our style to rise to the occasion.”

With last week’s game nearing a sell-out, fans are encouraged to secure their tickets early and be ready to protect our Pā and push the boys all the way.
Gallagher Chiefs captain Luke Jacobson says having strong support in the stands makes a massive difference for the players.

“The players love running out to a packed FMG Stadium Waikato. They really feed off the crowd and the energy they bring, so hopefully our Chiefs whānau will be there in good numbers ready to stand tall and support us loud and proud.”

Fans should aim to arrive early, bring their flags, and wear their colours with pride, ready to get behind the team in this crucial Semi Final clash. Tickets are available at chiefs.flicket.co.nz.
