Gallagher chiefs return to the bay for pre-season clash

The Gallagher Chiefs are excited to announce a return to Tauranga for their 2026 pre-season match against the Fijian Drua.

It promises to be a high-energy, community-packed afternoon of Super Rugby action. The match will be played on Friday 30 January at Sir Gordon Tietjens field, Blake Park kicking off at a family friendly 3pm.

With a mix of experienced leaders and emerging young talent in the squad for 2026, this game will give fans an early look at how the team is shaping up. Coming up against a strong Fijian Drua squad will ensure holiday makers and locals will get a spectacular end to their summer break.

Chiefs CEO, Simon Graafhuis said “We loved the energy and passion from our Chiefs supporters in the Bay last year. Bringing the team back to Tauranga and the Mount is a natural fit, and Blake Park will provide a great opportunity for fans to get close to the action as we prepare for the 2026 season.”
